CALCULATOR
Sphere Surface Area Calculator
Calculate the outer surface area of a complete sphere from its radius.
How the calculation works
Surface area = 4 × π × radius², with π = 3.141592653589793.
Worked example
With radius 2 m, surface area is 50.26548246 m².
Assumptions and limits
A complete smooth sphere. Enter its radius, not diameter, in meters from 0.001 to 1,000,000. This is the outer surface area only. Hemispheres, inner surfaces, seams, coating thickness and material waste are excluded.
