CALCULATOR
Hypotenuse Calculator
Find the longest side of a right triangle from its two perpendicular legs.
How the calculation works
Hypotenuse = √(first leg² + second leg²).
Worked example
With first perpendicular leg 3 m, second perpendicular leg 4 m, hypotenuse is 5 m.
Assumptions and limits
The two input legs meet at exactly 90 degrees. Each is entered in meters, from 0.001 to 1,000,000. The result is the positive length opposite the right angle. This model does not solve a non-right triangle, infer an angle, or accept a hypotenuse as one of the legs.
