PROJECT STARTER
Price a job profitably
Build a quote, compare costs, and find the price that meets your margin.
How the calculation works
Job cost = (materials + labour hours × labour rate + overhead) × (1 + contingency / 100). Quote = job cost / (1 − target margin / 100). Profit = quote − job cost.
Worked example
With materials 1,800.00 USD, labour hours 40 hours, labour cost per hour 35.00 USD/hour, job overhead 300.00 USD, cost contingency 10 %, target profit margin 25 %, suggested quote is 5,133.33 USD.
Assumptions and limits
A planning estimate before tax. Contingency increases estimated cost. Margin is a share of revenue, not a markup on cost. Replace example inputs with your job costs.
